Blanket time....
Once the outer layer of fire cement had dried, it was time to lay on the ceramic fire blanket.
This was once again a product bought from Victas, but is really essential if you intend to use the oven for other things than your Pizza's...Sunday Roast, Veg etc.
I bought the blanket some weeks ago so it was an educated guess in relation to how much I would need. I opted for five metres, and as it happens, it was exactly the correct length. Was that a lucky guess or what....
This is where the pre-planning with the wire rods was very beneficial.
The blanket is very malleable and easy to fit. I then placed chicken wire over the top of the oven to keep it all in place, and secured it by bending the pre-installed wire rods over the chicken wire. This helped to hold it in place and retain the shape of the dome... Simple's!!

Inner dome with fire blanket fitted
Inner dome with wire mesh over the fire blanket
Wire rod bent over the chicken wire to secure everything in place
