It's Taking Shape....

The last couple of days have been spent laying two layers of concrete to accommodate the 5cm Ceramic Fibre board.

I decided to go down the Ceramic Board route to ensure that all heat produced by the oven would remain within the fire bricks and board, and not break down the layers of concrete below it....just to be on the safe side.

Ensure that when you've fitted the board you seal it well all the way around to ensure the integrity of the board stay's intact.

I'm very pleased with the results so far, and even more amazed that I managed to get it all perfectly level. This should make it much easier to work on in the coming days and weeks when the real build starts.

Until next time.....

  3. Lots of progress in such a short amount of time! I knew that this would be a complicated job, but I am none the less surprised by the amount of steps you need to go through and how labour intensive it is.

On a side note, I love the reclaimed bricks initiative! As someone lime me with more than a passing interest in sustainability, I like the idea of using 'old stuff' to build 'new stuff'. It is much better that these bricks be used on your pizza oven than end up on a skip.

Keep up the good work! I look forward to following future developments :)
