Every Good Oven Needs a Door...
I've spent the last two days laying the oven floor with fire bricks and constructing the outer edges of the oven plinth with clay bricks.
Ensure that when you lay the floor it's perfectly flat and even....common sense really, but if you don't when you come to put the pizza in the oven on the peel, it will catch on the bricks and will make it more difficult to get in and out of the oven. I spent about 2 hours ensuring all was well with the floor.
I let all that dry overnight and spent this evening after work constructing the mouth arch to the oven.
Kim bought me an oven door for my birthday so the door was constructed around that, which I think makes a very nice feature.
A lot of people use slide in doors, but I thought a fixed door would be easier...time will tell.
I'll leave the mouth arch to dry overnight and weather permitting I should be in a position tomorrow after work to start the oven dome.....getting really excited about this bit!!
Note the cardboard template that I made. I will use this as a guide for my dome exterior dimensions
Until next time....
